The fifth annual Data Analytics Month@Ohio State kicks off Thursday, October 1.
This event, put together by the Translational Data Analytics Institute (TDAI) with partnerships across campus, features a campus-wide series of workshops, lectures, challenges, and events focused on celebrating data analytics and decision science.

Laura Gast , Data Governance and Privacy Lead, recently presented a Data Stewardship kickoff to engage the Data Steward community and review the Ohio State Data Governance program.

Ohio State’s Tableau User Group (TUG) helps bring together passionate users to learn, share and solve common data challenges.
The September TUG will meet virtually from noon to 1 p.m. on Thursday, September 17. The September meeting topic is: What’s New With Tableau? Join Tableau’s Catherine Skinner and Rick Evans for an overview of new features added to Tableau in 2020.

The OCIO Data and Analytics group continues to refine and improve the tools and processes it provides to Ohio State for the purpose of analyzing enterprise data—the data generated from university administrative functions (finance and supply chain, student information, human resources, payroll, and grants).
This update shares the latest developments for our current toolset which includes: the Reporting and Analytics Environment (RAE), Tableau and Collibra.
The May implementation of Salesforce was recently shared through the Enterprise Project. See the full article for a brief recap. There will be tie-ins to Data@OSU as Salesforce datasets become available though the Reporting and Analytics Environment (RAE). More information about Salesforce data will be forthcoming in the next several weeks.

Ohio State signed an agreement with Collibra this past December, in partnership and coordination with Wexner Medical Center, Advancement, and other key data intensive units, which helps lay the foundation of the university's overall data governance strategy. The April TUG will meet virtually via Zoom from noon to 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 16. The April meeting will focus on techniques for optimizing workbook performance (i.e. fixing slow workbooks).

The current soft rollout of the Reporting and Analytics Environment (RAE) has allowed the Data and Analytics Team the opportunity to refine processes in an iterative way, presenting new features and capabilities on a frequent basis.
For the March 2020 iteration, the team is simplifying the security setup for data analysts that have direct access to the Redshift database and the datasets within. Redshift is the new Data Warehouse platform, supported by Amazing Web Services (AWS).
Henry Zheng, Senior Associate Vice President for Strategic Analytics at Ohio State and Vaughn Hopkins, Executive Director of Institutional Research, Planning, and Analytics, Delaware State University, are collaborating on a series of monthly data governance articles published on the Association for Institutional Research (AIR) website .
