Ohio State has been using Mediasite to manage lecture capture and media distribution since 2014. A lot has changed since the university last engaged in a competitive bidding process for a media platform. Our online and hybrid student population has grown, and the technology landscape is very different. Our goal is to ensure the university has the most accessible and user-friendly platform available, making it easy for instructors and students to record and edit media and share it in CarmenCanvas and elsewhere.
Over the winter break, updates were made to Carmen Canvas , Mediasite and Zoom to make sure these tools were ready for a new semester at Ohio State. You may notice preferred last names across Carmen, the removal of Box integrations, a new look and feel for MyMediasite and an easy way to import your Zoom cloud recordings into Mediasite .
If you are using Mediasite to store and share lecture recordings and other content, please be aware of an upcoming change to available features. At the end of autumn semester, Catalogs will be retired in favor of Channels.
As an instructor at Ohio State, you might be using Mediasite to share videos and presentations with your students—but have you tried organizing your content into Channels? You can create Channels directly in the MyMediasite portal, and Channels allow you to share a group of presentations with just one URL. Think of Channels like your own personal playlists to use in your courses !

Many instructors as asking, “What do I need to do with my CarmenCanvas courses that have links to files in Box?” Before you go through each course, locate Box links and replace them, we encourage you to take some time to think about the best way to approach your files. You may want to move some files from OneDrive to another location that will create a better learning experience for your students.
