When the university asked OTDI to modernize our administrative systems with cloud-based Workday, Ohio State gained the ability to maintain a primary source of trusted data (a single source of truth) that could be shared by all of Ohio State and the Wexner Medical Center.
In addition to Workday (implemented in 2021) the university knew it also needed a new application to enable better reporting and data analytics for its business transactions. By adding Tableau as a partnering tool, Ohio State's data analysis and data visualization competencies have expanded. Check out this quick 5-minute History of OTDI video highlighting Tableau to learn how it was incorporated into Ohio State’s suite of powerful enterprise tools.

The Flexible Payroll Expense Data report allows users to customize worktags for payroll expenses. The tableau report interface for the custom worktag selection will be enhanced to improve the end user experience. Instead of users selecting the "select column" icon from the top right of the report, now all the column selections will appear above the column’s headings and will remain displayed. Attend the August 2023 Office Hours for a demo of the enhanced view. In addition, check out the full NewsLink post to see a visual comparison of the old and new report interface.

Starting the week of April 5, 2022, we will be working behind the scenes to reload the core Journal Line dataset from Workday into the Reporting and Analytics Environment (RAE), starting with January 2021 data and finishing through current day. The reload process is expected to be complete no later than April 15, 2022. We will load the data incrementally in monthly buckets due to the size of the files. Thus, during this 10-day period, updates will appear as the load steps complete.
There will be no system outage or downtime due to this work. Users, reports, and dashboards should not be affected. Updated and complete data will flow into your existing queries without any changes on your part. Once the reload is complete, we will send out a follow up notification.
