Ohio State's Cybersecurity for You Platform Featured in The Chronicle of Higher Education

The Cybersecurity for You (C4U) awareness platform was featured last month in The Chronicle of Higher Education article “As Cyberattacks Roil Colleges, Many Look to Faculty Members and Students for Help.” Several Ohio State staff and faculty members are interviewed about the need for quality cybersecurity education amidst a feeling of “training fatigue.” Site registration is required to access full article.

Ohio State’s Digital Security and Trust shared our unique approach of promoting actions individuals can take to secure their digital lives. Alongside the Rochester Institute of Technology, Southern Methodist University, The University of Arizona and Stanford University, the Security Awareness Team shared how the C4U platform takes a subject that can be confusing, dull and intimidating, and makes it engaging.

Ohio State’s Professor of Psychology, Duane Wegener, is quoted discussing the ease of the small, 5-7 minute activities that interest him. His favorites involve home-networking tips like how and when to update a router. He describes how the platform has helped him be more secure working from home.

“Being thrust into that role in my family … this gives you a go-to place” as questions and concerns arise, he said.

If you haven’t experienced the C4U platform, with the new-for-2022 activities you can:
  • Be vigilant about social engineering scams
  • Safely us cloud apps like Microsoft Teams
  • Better manage your children’s’ devices
  • Learn about digital inheritance for the data our loved ones leave behind
All faculty, staff and student employees can explore the C4U platform to learn tips and tricks to live a safer digital life. If you have questions we haven’t answered, or ideas for future content, email the team at c4u@osu.edu.
