The Ohio State App: 2017 Update
The Ohio State app continues to be an everyday part of the lives of many students, faculty and staff at The Ohio State University. In 2017, the app reached a record of nearly 60,000 active users in the first two weeks of autumn term! Further, the app averaged 2,900 more users per day during the first week of classes this year compared to last year.
Why so many more users?
In May, the Ohio State app underwent a major transformation, with the end goal of delivering the same level of user experience as a native app from Apple or Google. The development team incorporated feedback and usage data to improve navigation and accessibility as well.
Users of the Ohio State app are enjoying the redesign, according to feedback submitted within the app. Users said:
- “Love it. It's gotten way better in the last four years.”
- “Nice job! Impressive update! Keep up the good work.”
- “Everything is pretty great and convenient.”
- “Thanks for the great app!”
In addition to the redesign, Transportation and Traffic Management has been promoting the app to CABS bus riders for the most up-to-date route information. With bus routes in flux, even more users are flocking to the Ohio State app to help them navigate Columbus campus.
In fact, about 20% of monthly users don’t log in to the app—they use public features like bus routes, maps and search.
