Madhuri Marry
Meet Madhuri Marry, this month’s OTDI employee spotlight team member. Madhuri has spent over ten years at Ohio State working to continuously improve and enhance our systems, providing her expertise specifically on the PeopleSoft and Workday projects. Madhuri stays busy outside of work spending time with her family and enjoying the outdoors. Her newfound passion for swimming will come in handy at her dream vacation destination—anywhere with a beach! Back on dry land, you can catch Madhuri enjoying fresh meals from some of Columbus' best farm-to-table restaurants.
Q: What is your role at the university? I am an Integration Developer Consultant.
Q: How long have you worked at Ohio State? I started at OSU in August of 2012 as PeopleSoft Developer for payroll team. It is about 11.5 years.
Q: Have you worked on any large projects since you’ve been here? I have worked on large projects like Peoplesoft HR 9.2 upgrade and on the Workday implementation (The Enterprise Project).
Q: What are you currently working on? What does a typical day look like for you? Supporting Workday integrations, implementing enhancements and providing continuous improvement to the system.
Q: What do you like best about your job? I enjoy the problem solving and troubleshooting aspect of the work. Not all the issues are same, it gives opportunities to learn new things. Collaborating with the team and supporting each other.
Q: Did you always know this is what you wanted to do as a career? As a child I wanted to be a teacher. Later, working in an IT industry was the most admired job that’s when I decided I wanted to be in this profession.
Q: What was your very first job? A summer job as a data entry operator.
Q: Where did you go to college? Master of computer applications from India.
Q: Where are you from originally? I was born and raised in Hyderabad, India.
Q: What is your favorite place to visit? I love beaches! Bahamas, Cancun, and Key West.
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why? Mount Kailash, Himalayas it is considered a sacred spiritual place. Bali for the natural beauty.
Q: Can you tell us about your family? My family consists of my husband Venkat, and two boys Rishaan 10 and Riaan 7 who love playing video games and are big fans of Minecraft.
Q: What do you do for fun outside of work? Do you have any hobbies? I like being outdoors, enjoy walk in parks, gardening. Recently started my long-term goal to learn swimming. So, this has become my newfound hobby.
Q: Favorite place to eat in Columbus? I like Brassica, Kitchen Social, SOW Plated.
