The OTDI Tableau team is pleased to announce the launch of our first training, Tableau Server Fundamentals. This live, 45-minute zoom webinar is intended for anyone who accesses Tableau reports on the university’s server. At the end of training, attendees will learn how to navigate Tableau Server as well as how to set up subscriptions to regularly monitor data, create and save report parameters, and share data. Last week, the Data and Analytics Team published a new dashboard to help data analysts better understand which datasets they have access to within the Reporting and Analytics Environment (RAE).
This new “RAE User Domain Access” dashboard displays a user’s name, login, and the list of domains and equivalent security groups to which they belong within the RAE. This membership governs the types of data available to them for querying.
Ginger Breon has accepted the role of Chief Technology Officer in OTDI. As Chief Technology Officer, Ginger leads the Research Technology and Infrastructure Services team. In that capacity, she oversees enterprise-wide technology services offered by the Office of Technology and Digital Innovation (OTDI). In this role she also served as fiscal agent for OH-TECH, which includes OhioLINK, OARnet and the Ohio Supercomputer Center.

The next round of software updates is now available to install for OTDI-managed workstations via Software Center (for Windows PC) or Ohio State Application Self Service (for Mac). The IT Service Desk will remotely deploy these updates on Friday, June 24 which will require you to restart your machine and/or close applications. You can make these updates at your convenience prior to Friday via your appropriate software update application to avoid interruptions that could occur from an automatic update.

The Affordable Learning Exchange (ALX) has been awarding grants for the past seven years to instructors who want to transform their courses. Grant winners were primarily focused on reducing the cost of their course materials for students. “While these goals remain at the core of the ALX mission, the murder of George Floyd in 2020 prompted us to [...] expand our scope to encompass broader social justice topics," said Ashley Miller. Several instructors at Ohio State share Miller's passion and have taken the opportunity ALX provides to infuse their courses with racial justice.
